General municipal by-laws
The Municipality of Austin has put in place by-laws that define the rights and responsibilities of citizens in certain situations, including environmental protection (for example the use of pesticides on lawns and the control of zebra mussels), responsible pet ownership, garage sales, outdoor fires and various forms of nuisance (for example noise, parking on the public right-of-way, etc.).

Nuisance
The Municipality of Austin has adopted a by-law dealing with public nuisance, covering parking, door-to-door sales, civic numbers, work causing noise, fire protection, property used as a dumping ground, excavation, watercourses, damage to trees, damage by trees and penalties. — By-law 01-264
Control of zebra mussels
Every year, any resident of the municipality who owns a boat that will be used on Lake Memphrémagog must come to the town hall or Bryant’s Landing to obtain or renew a boat user’s certificate and the sticker that must be placed on every craft moving or anchored on this lake. — By-law 02-284
Pets
Identification tags for your pets The identification tag from the SPA could be your pet's ticket back home.
You can pick up a tag for your pet at the town hall during regular office hours. There is no charge for this service. — By-law 07-341
Garage sales
Three garage sales per year may be held. You must first obtain a permit. — By-law 03-298
