Planning by-laws

The Municipality has a planning program and planning by-laws, several extracts from which are available by clicking on the appropriate links. These by-laws regulate construction, repair and renovation of buildings, cutting trees, subdivision, shoreline development, etc. For more information, please call the building and environment inspector, Mr. Stephen Nicholson, (819) 843-2388, or email at stephen.nicholson@municipalite.austin.qc.ca.

Permits and certificates

If you wish to renovate or enlarge your home, cut trees, carry out work on the shoreline, put in a swimming pool or build a shed, don't forget that you must first obtain a permit! You must speak to Mr. Stephen Nicholson, building and environment inspector before beginning work, to arrange a meeting. Please call (819) 843-2388. Once all the documents required are presented, plan on a delay of up to 30 days while the documents are studied before the permit is issued.
