The Municipality of Austin will accept bids for the summer upkeep of municipal grounds until 10 am on April 26, 2012. NATURE OF THE WORK: The lawns must be cut once a week starting May 7 and ending October 1st, at the following locations: Town Hall (in front and rear); Septic field behind the town hall (once during summer); Municipal park/ play ground (Millington road); Flower beds on Nicholas Austin road, at the side of the church; Municipal lot at Butter’s center; Bryant’s Landing Road and the area around the parking lot and along the water; Shappie Trough (picnic area); North Road firehall; Muriel Duckworth Park (Millington road, beside the church); Fessenden Park (corner of Nicholas-Austin and Fisher); Monument (corner of Gibraltar Point and Fisher). Anyone interested may come to the town hall during regular business hours to obtain the tendering documents. Anne-Marie Ménard Directrice-générale

Preparing Austin’s future together! The municipality invites the population to participate in a 2nd Citizens’ Forum, which will take place next March 31st, from 8:30 to 4:30 at the community hall. Register before March 20th, 2012. Here are the questions which will be addressed: - How can we get the population to buy into our collective values? By regulations and increased control? Other avenues? - How to orientate the economic development of the municipality? What are our margins for manoeuvre? - How can we attract young families or businesses? - How can municipal management adequately meet the expectations of the Austin population? - What kind of community can we realistically wish for in Austin? What should be the main role of municipal management? And of the citizens?
